Full Earth is the latest project from Kanaan and Motorpsycho drummer Ingvald Vassbø, in which other excellent artists from the modern scene participate. The debut album “Cloud Sculptors” was released on March 15, 2024 via Stickman Records and contains six long-form tracks. An album that exceeds 80 minutes, divided between epic tracks that showcase and enhance all the ideas and compositional and performing technique of these artists. An ambitious project that manages to be both elaborate and complex yet accessible and engaging. The music is a mixture of different genres and styles between Progressive Rock, Psychedelia, Experimental and Heavy stretches with keyboards taking centre stage. The long instrumental textures allow for the development of beautifully crafted keyboard and guitar twists, while the rhythm sections are solid and elaborate, and are enriched by continuous tempo changes. The band succeeds in finding the perfect blend of retro and modern sounds, always giving their own personal touch to the songs, definitely pleasing both purists of the classics and listeners of the modern style. In addition to the band’s compositional and performing technique, the use of effects and modulations of sounds is valuable, allowing for experimentation. In spite of its long duration, the album flows with high intensity and engages the listener from beginning to end thanks to the developments and interesting nuances they give to the themes of the tracks. It will be interesting to hear this band live, as their music lends itself to energetic and technical performances at the same time. An absolutely recommended listen for all lovers of Heavy Prog and Psychedelic sounds with many facets that make this record truly original. Norway confirms itself as a breeding ground for excellent artists and this band confirms this. Congratulations also to Stickman Records for coming up with an ambitious project. An engaging album full of quality ideas and insights that leaves us wanting to listen to it again and again, making it one of the most interesting record releases of 2023 so far.
